This past Sunday we planned to ride as the weather report says its going to rain for about a week. The guys wanted to do a long distance road ride from Carson to Long Beach.
My disadvantage: I'm the only one on a mountain bike. This time I brought my single speed. The last 'ball buster' ride I cramped up really bad. I tried to keep pace with the guys on road bikes at 16-18 MPH while my high rolling resistance multi-geared bike can do 11-12 MPH max. At least with the single speed, I have no choice but to be slow. Because of the off road gearing of 32-20 (32 tooth chainring and 20 tooth rear cog) I only have a cruising speed of 8-9 MPH. Uphills were minimal so I didn't have a hard time.
When we got to the Long Beach Harbor at the lighthouse, we met 2 other Pinoy riders, one of them is a friend of Richie Lazaro from Fil-Am! Small freaking world!

After a week of almost non-stop rain here in Southern California, it finally stopped Saturday and today was a perfect day to go riding. Not too cold and blue skies. The trails are still wet in some areas though.
Went riding solo as the rest of the guys were not available...
Heres another one I took except I hosted it on Vimeo. Vimeo uploads is a bit slower than youtube except you dont have comments and less of a chance of the audio disabled.

How will that helmet cam of yours hold up in triple-digit speed? Does it affect the streamline of your helmet and causes turbulence?
When I finally get my superbike license here, it would be fun to record the road trips here. Am also thinking of getting those wireless video eye and mounting or just duct-tape it to the bike's fairing, and helmet. They're very cheap here.
Hmmm.... that gives me an idea, can velcro them on my MICH helmets or AEGs too.

It can survive triple digit speeds. There are sportbike forums here that use GoPros to film their rides. There are various mounts, mine just happen to be the helmet version.
Sport bike riders mount it behind the windscreen, usually on the bars or on the tank ahead of the gas cap.
The GoPro HD is even better. Other than full high def (1080p) resolution, a Li-Ion battery is now included and have a more versatile polycarb case to pick up sound and better mounting options such as a head strap like those head-mounted hiking lights.
My GoPro cant pick up sound because its encased in the waterproof (up to 100 feet) polycarb case.

Oh yes. The cam and case is detachable from its mount. The attachment point is similar to a Kovach clip/buckle that it easily unclips from one mount to another yet secure.
In the videos the cam is mounted on my helmet forward-facing. If I want to have it rear-facing, I dont even have to mess with the mount, all I have to do is unclip/unbuckle it then re-attach.
GoPro also sells a chest mount; it offers a better view of the users arms and legs. I'll probably eventually get one.
